A Young Kim, BMus, MMus, ARCCO, FRCCO

A Young Kim is an organist and composer trained in South Korea, the United States and Canada. Born in Seoul, Korea, A Young began piano lessons at the age of 4 and continued her studies at the Sunhwa Arts School. A Young holds a Bachelor of Music degree in composition from Yonsei University in Seoul and a double Master of Music degree (Composition and Organ Performance) from Southern Methodist University, Dallas Texas, where she studied composition with Martin Sweidel and Robert Frank and organ with Larry Palmer. During her years at SMU, she was awarded the Meadows full scholarship and Artistic Award. A Young was the Shipman organ scholar at Metropolitan United Church, London Ontario under the guidance of Gregg Redner. (2019-2022) She was certified as an Associate of the Royal Canadian College of Organists (ARCCO) in 2021 and as a Fellow (FRCCO) in 2023.

 A Young has previously served as an organist at the First Covenant Church, Omaha, Nebraska (2015-2017) and Sungnam Presbyterian Church in South Korea (2008-2011). Active as a composer and an orchestrator, she has worked with Metropolitan Choir school, NISE(Neo Impressive Soloists Ensembles), Seoul Arts Center, Hwaum Chamber Orchestra, the Seoul Metropolitan Opera and Gangnam Symphony Orchestra. Her solo organ work, Reflections on Arirang was published by E.C.S. Publishing.
